Full Job Description
Due to new funding for development of the service, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5 hours/week) Macmillan Band 6 Upper GI Oncology Dietitian working for ULTH.
This is a great opportunity to advance your dietetic career and gain experience in the specialist area of oncology, working with patients with upper GI cancers in both in and outpatients. You will require the skills to manage your own caseload independently and to demonstrate excellent team working skills. Prior experience of working with cancer patients is preferable, but we are able to provide training for those applicants with minimal oncology experience.
As this is a Macmillan funded role, the successful applicant will also benefit from access to the associated grants for CPD as well as a supportive and extensive network of healthcare professionals working across oncology.
We are an inclusive, supportive department who offer flexible working (working hours to be discussed at interview) and opportunities for professional development. We actively participate in student training in conjunction with the other ULTH sites.
Main duties of the job
The service provides support to adult inpatients and outpatients on an upper GI oncology pathway, with the support of the B7 Upper GI Oncology Dietitian. This may include complex nutrition support including pre- and post-surgical patients. You will have the opportunity to attend MDT meetings, as well as working with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality care for the patients.
You will contribute to high quality dietetic care being delivered equitably across the Trust, and ensure that your practice reflects the latest evidence base and guidelines. This will involve development and review of resources including policies, guidelines and diet sheets.
There will be opportunity work towards taking on line management responsibility, including recruitment and induction of new staff within the dietetic team as required, clinical supervision, professional development and appraisal.
