We have an exciting opportunity for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This role's primary objective is to assist the Finance Manager for Stores in delivering timely and accurate management accounts for our UK and ROI Stores. You'll collaborate closely with Support Centre colleagues, providing financial insights and analysing variances to drive understanding. Additionally, you will contribute to budgeting and reforecasting processes for central costs, headcount, and capital expenditures (Capex). Beyond routine reporting, this role will focus on enhancing the department\'s internal controls and processes, ensuring they are robust and compliant. Based at Junction 41 in Wakefield, with free parking and a flexible, hybrid way of working, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in our team.   • Production of Monthly Management Accounts, taking responsibility for much of the Operating/Head Office Costs. Chiefly:
  • - Headcount Costs & Associated Reporting - IT Costs - Legal, Professional and Marketing - Training and Recruitment Costs - Capex project costs
  • Analysing variances and producing insightful, actionable commentaries and reports in a form suitable for sharing with colleagues across the business
  • Summarising and posting the payroll costs into the accounts system
  • Supporting production of annual Budgets and in-year reforecasts
  • Continuous improvement, automation and simplification of existing processes
  • Liaising with external auditors as part of the year-end and interim results
  • Collaborating with the wider finance team to ensure all costs are properly tracked and coded correctly in the P&L,
  • Strengthening financial controls and promoting compliance with these
  • Key balance sheet reconciliations and analysis,
  • Mentoring the Assistant Management Accountant and reviewing their work,
  • Deputising for the Finance Manager where needed

    Previous General practice/Internal Audit exposure with a real passion and talent for driving improvements in (and ensuring compliance with) internal controls and processes
  • Ability to tailor reports and communications for a variety of finance and non-finance stakeholders,
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills
  • Able to work at pace, with a pragmatic approach to balancing the need for accuracy and tight deadlines,
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Experience of working in a large Retail/FMCG organisation would be an advantage
