Full Job Description
As Manager, UK Corporate Government Affairs you will play an important part in supporting GSK's government affairs engagement, primarily focused on the UK. You will help the UK Corporate government affairs team to navigate external developments impacting GSK, build stakeholder relationships, and tell GSK's story effectively to political audiences. The role will also provide wider support e.g. on geopolitical issues and to the team's work supporting GSK leaders, as well as supporting the VP, Global Corporate Government Affairs & Policy (GCGAP) in ad hoc assignments. The role will be based in Global Corporate Government Affairs & Policy (GCGAP), a core part of our Corporate Affairs group. It will involve working collaboratively with colleagues across the business and with external agencies to help deliver our advocacy and engagement, including specific projects, with the aim of improving GSK's operational environment so that we can effectively research, develop and manufacture innovative medicines and vaccines that make a difference to people's lives. You will be driven, a quick learner and intellectually curious, with a passion for making a difference and enjoy the challenge of working to a high standard on multiple projects and deliverables. You will be agile, responsive, and comfortable navigating change and using AI tools in your work. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables Supporting UK government affairs engagement
- Draft outreach letters and emails, follow up to secure and arrange meetings with key stakeholders, working with the team and outside advisers as needed.
- Track delivery of the UK contact programme to ensure target relationships are being built and maintained, ensuring actions are delivered and proactively suggesting solutions and next steps
- Keep updated key facts about GSK and core team materials, and think of new and impactful ways of telling our story. Drafting advocacy and other materials
- Draft external materials to support our advocacy on GSK priorities, such as meeting briefings, policy proposals, and submissions to government and/or select committees.
- Draft materials to support the team in sharing key updates with internal stakeholders, such as updates on UK developments or key issues.
- Desk research in support of the team's policy and advocacy work, and to help brief senior leaders. External insights:
- Attending external events and meetings, including but not limited to those held by our trade associations, think tanks, and agencies, to gain relevant insights
- Reviewing external reports, monitoring and newsletters and highlighting items of interest to the team Broader responsibilities:
- Organizing meetings of relevant teams across the business to share insights and plans
- Supporting the VP as needed with team processes and coordination, as well as global government affairs tasks supporting EU and US based teams
Experience of government or public affairs, including successfully delivering engagement programmes - A self-starter who is willing to take on responsibility and is results driven
- Intellectually curious, quick learner
- Able to work on multiple priorities, agile and responsive
- Strong written and verbal communicator
- Experience working in a matrix organization with multiple internal stakeholders
- Understanding and experience of the pharmaceutical/life sciences industry, gained either in-house or in agency or government roles
- Positive and proactive team player, plays active role in team culture and development
