Full Job Description

To act as PCFT representative at local Tameside borough MARAC meetings, sharing relevant mental health or learning disability information to inform discussions and decision making. To attend regular local MARAC meetings as a Trust representative and feed into this process. Liaise with multi-agency partners in the MARAC process.

  • To complete comprehensive research in preparation for MARAC meetings.
  • Complete and contribute to reports for victims and/or perpetrators who are open to mental health services.

  • Inform mental health colleagues and update systems regarding MARAC processes and risk assessments.
  • To refer victims identified as high risk into the MARAC process and to attend MARAC to advocate on their behalf to ensure their needs and wishes are reflected in action plans.
  • To undertake dynamic assessments which explore; family history, family functioning, interpersonal relationships, behaviour management (self and family) barriers to education and work, barriers to independence and self- management. To produce or contribute to clear action plans with outcomes based on robust assessment.
  • To understand the legal framework relating to the protection of children, including the policies and procedures of the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
  • To escalate to management any cases where there are ongoing safeguarding or risk management concerns.
  • To ensure any recommendations from Domestic Homicide Reviews are embedded into service provision.

MARAC is a meeting where information is shared on the highest risk domestic abuse cases between representatives of local police, health child protection, housing practitioner, Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs), probation and other specialists from the statutory and voluntary sectors. To feedback outcomes into the Trust's care planning, risk assessment and safeguarding arenas. To act as a representative to ensure that the voice of the child and vulnerable adults is heard where domestic violence is a factor in their household. To provide specialist advice, guidance and training to staff of all disciplines within PCFT. To provide specialist mental health subject knowledge to MARAC partner agencies to support understanding around mental health concerns/processes/appropriate access to services. To promote and work to, the aims and objectives of the Domestic Violence and abuse Policy. Main duties and responsibilities
