Full Job Description

As our Functional Skills Tutor, you'll work with apprentices across Functional Skills Maths and ICT

  • (and occasionally English) at Levels 1 and 2. You'll not only deliver tailored learning experiences but also take on aspects of curriculum leadership to ensure the highest standards of education and training., Delivering engaging and dynamic lessons that stretch and challenge learners of all abilities.
  • Planning, preparing, and updating teaching materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and online content using Canvas. Providing one-on-one and group support to learners, adapting teaching methods to individual needs. Designing interactive sessions that inspire and motivate learners to excel. Embedding literacy and numeracy skills into wider curriculum areas. Collaborating with curriculum leads to develop a high-quality Functional Skills program. Supporting learners with additional needs, removing barriers to achievement in line with Education and Health Care Plans. Organizing Functional Skills exams and assessments. Monitoring and providing constructive feedback to learners, driving progress and achievement. Contributing to curriculum design and quality assurance processes. Keeping up-to-date with developments in your subject area through continuous professional development.

    We're searching for a dedicated professional who is passionate about teaching and can bring creativity and innovation to the classroom. To thrive in this role, you'll need: Level 3/4 subject-specific qualification (Maths or related field). Level 3 Award in Education and Training or Cert Ed, or PGCE (or the willingness to achieve this within two years). Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English. Experience in academic settings and supporting learners to achieve their goals. Strong knowledge of the Functional Skills curriculum.
