Mental Health Advisor

The role of the Mental Health Advisor, a fixed term post for 9 months maternity cover is to offer professional advice, triage, risk management, support and care planning for students with complex or emerging mental health difficulties. You will be required to have an input to the delivery of mental health support for students, including providing advice and guidance on mental health issues and support available for students to staff across the institution.

You will be part of a team with formal links to local NHS services, allowing liaison between services to provide better support to students with more severe Mental Health needs. You will also liaise with other statutory and voluntary agencies, sign posting when appropriate.

A relevant degree or formal mental health qualification is essential as well as substantial experience of providing mental health and wellbeing support, information, advice and guidance on a one-to-one and group basis. You will have experience of working with young people who are experiencing mental health difficulties and knowledge and understanding of the mental health system, referral and continuing care.
