Mental Health University Liaison Specialist Practitioner

We have an opportunity for a band 6 mental health practitioner to join our new and innovative mental health team based across the 4 universities in Cardiff. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative individual who upholds the values of the health board with a passion for working with students. The team sit within primary care but the role involves liaising across services both within the universities and across the health board.
The post is full-time (37.5 hours a week) but we would welcome part-time applicants or those looking to job share.
You will work alongside student support services and NHS teams to help educate, develop and support a clear understanding of the complexities and scope of mental health need within the student population., Day to day, you will independently assess students who have been referred by their GP, wellbeing teams, CMHT's, A&E and primary care services. You will work predominately within university premises but there is opportunity for home working and you will be provided with a laptop and phone., Applicants are invited to apply in Welsh. The role requires excellent communication skills and you will be expected to liaise and pro-actively support students to link with appropriate services including university well-being teams, self-help resources, GP's, the third sector as well as secondary services. Moving forward, the team will consider further developments informed by our service data.
As a new team we will expect you to contribute to the development of the service and work well as part of a team. You will be an experienced practitioner with evidence of ongoing professional development and ability to work autonomously with students, identifying needs and making evidence-based clinical decisions relating to ongoing support and care.
The role requires good problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written skills and a good understanding of the boundaries of confidentiality. The whole team is expected to contribute to service evaluation and building evidence for the ongoing success of this new provision.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Please be advised that there is a temporary top up for Bands 1,2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the top up to the living wage of £12 per hour - £23,465 per annum.
