Full-time, 37 hours per week
Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 5pm
King Edward's is one of Hampshire's leading independent day schools with a mission to operate a forward-thinking, modern IT infrastructure to support over 1,500 staff and pupils at our excellent School. We are currently seeking a Network Engineer who will support the Head of IT to effectively manage the IT Systems at King Edward VI School, Southampton and King Edward VI Preparatory School, Romsey. As a key member of the IT Support Team, the Network Engineer will provide efficient and effective technical support in a manner consistent with the School's aims and ethos.
The ideal candidate will be looking to grow their networking, cybersecurity and cloud service expertise. You will be passionate about expanding your problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and proactive in anticipating issues or situations that may impact service delivery. As a Network Engineer, with guidance from the Head of IT, you will install and configure network hardware ensuring that it meets the school's needs in terms of speed, reliability and security and provide IT support for teachers and pupils where needed. You will have a solid understanding of networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) as well as a familiarity with networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
