Full Job Description

Are you an experienced, senior nurse, with strong, demonstrable professional and clinical leadership skills, who can provide strategic direction and focus for the delivery of excellent quality of care and outcomes in our Unplanned Care Division. Working within a triumvirate, you will be responsible for the management of all non-medical clinical posts and the safety, quality, experience and effectiveness of all clinical services across a large division which includes inpatient intermediate care, urgent care and virtual wards. You will need to set, monitor, implement and maintain the highest standards of practice and patient care through a range of quality improvement activities. This is an exciting opportunity to further transform our pathways of care for patients, using improvement methodology, creating a climate where excellence in practice flourishes and where individuals are respected and valued for their role and contribution. You will be expected to also hold a portfolio of trust-wide projects, aligned to your professional registration and deputise as requested for the Chief Nurse and her deputy.,

  • Clinical Leadership & Quality Assurance: Provide strong, visible leadership to deliver high-quality, patient-cantered care. Oversee the management of all non-medical clinical posts and ensure effective governance and safety across all clinical services.
  • Strategic Direction & Service Development: Shape the division's strategic vision in collaboration with the divisional medical director, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and clinical needs. Drive initiatives to improve patient outcomes, reduce clinical variation, and promote evidence-based pathways.
  • Staffing & Workforce Planning: Lead recruitment, retention, and skill mix reviews, ensuring safe staffing levels and fostering a supportive environment for professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Patient Experience & Engagement: Ensure patient voices inform improvement efforts and that services are safe, effective, and consistently high in quality.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Develop a culture of ongoing improvement, utilising data to address health inequities, improve outcomes, and incorporate innovative practices.
  • Collaboration & Partnership: Work with other divisions, executive teams, and external partners to enhance healthcare delivery and address local health inequalities.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the divisional budget alongside the divisional leadership team, ensuring resources are utilised efficiently and financial targets are met.
