Full Job Description

Our London based construction team are looking for a Paralegal on a full time (35hrs a week), basis, to help them run a caseload of contentious and non-contentious construction cases. The role will see you work closely with all members of the 17-person team including Eleanor Kilminster (partner and head of the department), and one other paralegal. You will work with a variety of clients ranging from developers, contractors, sub-contractors, registered providers and local authorities. Day to day tasks will include:

  • Assisting with High Court litigation including the preparation of electronic document bundles, chronologies, dramatis personae, and disclosure.
  • Assisting with adjudication and expert determination, including assisting in the preparation of Referrals, Responses and associated document management.
  • Assisting with project management of large development, joint venture or commercial projects including production and drafting of collateral warranties, appointments and novations, and tracking completion of the same.
  • Where appropriate, attending meetings, court hearings and mediations to take notes and assist with document management., Application review

Offer of employment If you are successful and accept our offer of employment, we will submit your details to our background screening company (Giant), who will conduct a series of background checks. Once these have been completed and we have separately validated your proof of right to work in the UK, a start date can be agreed, and your onboarding schedule can be planned.

    We are looking for someone with prior paralegal experience in either a construction or real estate team. You will also have a genuine interest in real estate/construction law and a love for technical detail, due to the complex nature of the work. Working in a large team will bring out your ability to juggle conflicting deadlines from a variety of fee-earners and give you an opportunity to show-case your time management skills. Your proactive approach to your work will enable you to assist in progressing cases/projects and give you the chance to build upon your project management skillset. In return, you will be joining a friendly, talented team of construction lawyers who work on a wide range of construction law issues. Day to day, you will be working on high quality fee-earning work, which will give you the chance to hone your time recording, case/document management skills.
