Full Job Description

The post holder will play a pivotal role in the operational, clinical management and development of multiple pathology discipline areas including the Microbiology service within the Clinical Support Division. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe and efficient pathology services that meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers in Herefordshire and surrounding areas., In collaboration with the General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Clinical Leads, Integrated Care Service (ICS) colleagues and key stakeholders within the South Midlands Pathology Network (SMP) the post holder will support the Clinical Director in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, operational performance, and patient outcomes. The role requires an understanding of various pathology disciplines including microbiology, with the ability to perform, analyse and interpret on a wide range of highly complex data to allow the post holder to report on a full range of routine and highly specialised tests.

The post holder will foster a culture of continuous improvement, supporting the professional development of staff through mentoring and training. They will ensuring compliance with UKAS accreditation standards and implement robust governance arrangements to maintain quality and safety indicators. Furthermore, the post holder will be instrumental in driving collaboration within the South Midlands Pathology network (SMP), engaging key stakeholders to align services with clinical best practices and strategic objectives.
