Full Job Description

This role has a Trust-wide remit, encompassing transfusion education and training for clinical staff, risk management, and clinical audit. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting the safe, effective, and optimal use of blood and blood products while also advocating for evidence-based alternatives to transfusion where appropriate. Working collaboratively with the Transfusion Practitioners, you will contribute to raising awareness of current regulatory and statutory requirements that impact transfusion practices. A key aspect of this role will involve supporting the implementation of measures to ensure compliance with national guidelines and best practices. In addition, the post holder will provide expert transfusion advice and contribute to the development and delivery of quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of transfusion practices across the Trust. You will be assisting in the development of risk reduction strategies and supporting clinical teams in implementing best practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and knowledgeable professional with relevant transfusion experience to influence and improve transfusion safety and governance at UCLH. The role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Patient Blood Management Practitioner to join the Hospital Transfusion Team at UCLH Foundation Trust. This is a 15-month fixed-term position, ideal for a dynamic, experienced nurse with substantial post-registration experience in blood and blood product transfusion within a clinical setting. This role is particularly suitable for those seeking a secondment. We are seeking a flexible, confident individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with staff at all levels involved in the transfusion process across the Trust.
