Full Job Description

We are looking for a Patient Environment Assistant ( Porter) 32.5 hours per week on a 8 week rolling rota. Including weekend work., The aim of the role is to support the clinical teams in maintaining the optimum environment for our patients. The main duties are to support patient movement, removal and disposal of waste, handling of medical gases., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

We are looking to recruit a Patient Environment Assistant ( Porter) for our Team. You should be hard working, punctual and able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.,

  • Driving Licence
  • Basic Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Desirable criteria
  • NVQ or BICS qualification in cleaning sciences or equivalent
  • Certificate in COSHH
  • Certificate in Health and Safety, Essential criteria
  • Previous operational manual handling experience
  • Deal with internal and external communication using both verbal and written material
  • Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of cleaning in a large setting or Health Care environment, Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially
  • Deal with a diverse range of people face to face
  • Desirable criteria
  • Able to communicate within a team and provide feedback to colleagues and line managers, Ability to travel between the Trust sites as required
  • Ability to have a flexible approach to work patterns when required
  • Desirable criteria
  • Deal with day to day workloads linked to hygiene procedures and able to follow written cleaning schedules
  • Reporting equipment breakdown and faults on work equipment to supervisors
  • Deal with day to day workloads in food hygiene procedures, able to follow written schedules
  • Having the abilities in listening, sharing and receiving support and advice

  • Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata. For posts on Agenda for Change pay-scales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point of the relevant band.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
