Full Job Description

As a Payments Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing our purchase invoice process, ensuring that payments are accurate, timely, and compliant. You'll be working closely with budget holders and suppliers to resolve queries, ensure correct coding, and maintain high standards of accuracy in processing payments.   • Ensure that all purchase invoices are processed accurately and paid within the required timescales.
  • Collaborate with budget holders to ensure invoices are coded and authorised correctly.
  • Resolve queries from suppliers and budget holders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide cover across the team as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Depending on workload and team duties, you will also be responsible for:
  • Processing inter-company transactions.
  • Handling direct debit payments and ensuring relevant invoices are reconciled.
  • Processing consolidated invoices from regular suppliers.
  • Preparing and posting invoices before payment.
  • Preparing BACS payment runs and liaising with approvers.
  • Preparing and submitting Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) returns to HMRC.
  • You will play a pivotal role in managing payments amounting to £30 million annually, ensuring accuracy and compliance while contributing to the overall success of the team.

    You'll have a background in accounts payable or financial systems, with a thorough approach to managing financial data. Your strong communication and customer service skills will help you build effective relationships with both internal teams and external suppliers. A passion for continuous improvement and teamwork will drive your success in this role.
