Full Job Description

The People Officer will report directly to the People Operations Manager and will support the delivery of end to end people services for the SFO which incorporates the onboarding of new employees, workflows to support the employee processes for current employees, payroll and providing clear guidance for people who have chosen to exit the SFO. As part of the transition to a People and Culture service provision, the services provided through the People Operations team will be likened to that of ‘level 1’ service provision of a helpdesk type activity.
People operations is a customer focused, fast paced, varied and exciting area of work within the whole People and Culture team. The team will draw on data sources, feedback and digital solutions to deliver an efficient and effective first stage support for all people related enquiries across the SFO.
This role is part of a wider People and Culture team who are responsible for providing a range of front line support services and guidance to the business.
We are looking for someone with a positive outlook, who is motivated to help us deliver high quality recruitment and attraction services and who wants to support our efforts to make continuous improvements to how we work. You will be one of two People Officers responsible for delivering a professional resourcing service including recruitment, selection, appointments, onboarding, inductions and any other people related administration and project work., + Working collaboratively across the team to provide payroll service in collaboration with the Crown Prosecution Services payroll team (who provide our payroll service) to ensure that we provide them with the relevant transactional information within the agreed monthly timeframe and that staff are paid correctly each month.
+ Support the People Operations Manager in identifying and suggestions to continually improve the efficiency of our payroll processes and services.
+ Support the Pay and Reward Manager in carrying out pension activity in line with our employer responsibilities, ensuring our monthly interface is below the target error rate set by the Cabinet Office and responding in a timely manner to data requests.
+ Keep up to date with employee related legislative changes and support managers in regular calls with the pension account manager.
+ Support with case management of employee relations cases, either with level 1 investigations or taking notes in meetings to support the People Business Partners, People Operations Manager and/or managers in operational areas of the SFO.
+ Monitor use of reward and recognition schemes across business areas, manage the Simply Thanks voucher scheme to ensure timely payment and lead on implementation of pay awards for permanent and agency staff
+ Support the Talent Acquisition team to complete onboarding activities for new starters, including the issuing of contractual information to the new starter.
+ Provide support and guidance to other members of the team, when required, in carrying out transactional activities around Finance, payroll, reward and onboarding activities.
+ Support the team with continuous improvement to our services and with the transition to a new HR Information System (HRIS) expected for implementation later this year.
+ Share responsibility for the People and Culture mailbox, especially focused on responding to general and payroll related queries and providing timely and professional advice or allocating emails to the relevant team member to respond where appropriate.
+ Work with People and Culture colleagues to include wider project work, contributing to and taking minutes at meetings, and assisting team members in the wider delivery of effective People and Culture services.

+ Experience of carrying out pay, pension and reward advice and supporting people across the wider team to deliver specialist services.
+ Experience of managing a multi discipline inbox to answer and respond to queries.

+ Confident in dealing with customer queries and resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
+ Good attention to detail, planning and record-keeping, in particular, and in relation to sensitive data.
