Full Job Description
VENEPUNCTURE:
- Collect samples of blood into appropriate containers.
- Accurately label all samples to confirm patient identity.
- Ensure that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories.
- Check patient identification against request form identification.
- Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff. HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Operate safely in the workplace and maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- Ensure all equipment is used as laid down in operating instructions.
- Wear appropriate uniform, protective clothing, dress as suitable to the job or as per relevant hospital policy.
- Ensure the safe disposal of used needles and other contaminated material. MANAGING SELF
- Attend training lectures, study days and workshops as and when relevant or as per instructions of the Manager.
- Read all relevant literature provided.
- Maintain an appropriate awareness of the relevant organizational policies and health & safety guidelines. GENERAL DUTIES
- Maintain confidentiality of patient's records.
- Receive all relevant deliveries of goods and distribute to appropriate sections or storerooms.
- Perform any other appropriate duties deemed necessary by the manager. There may be a requirement to participate in the weekend rotas.
- The post holder shall as necessary provide cover for and undertake duties of absent colleagues.

The amount of £23 (standard disclosure) or £43 (enhanced disclosure) will be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment. Bank posts require upfront payment. DBS applications submitted from 2nd December will be subject to the new DBS fee of £26.50 (standard) and £54.50 (Enhanced). From April 2017, Skilled visa applicants and their adult dependant(s) will be required to provide a criminal record certificate from each country they have lived in consecutively for 12 months or more in the past ten years. Applicants requiring sponsorship may wish to determine the likelihood of obtaining sponsorship for this position by assessing themselves against the criteria on the gov.uk website - https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa. As an organisation, we have adopted the Merseyside Domestic abuse workplace scheme which supports our staff who are experiencing Domestic Abuse /any forms of sexual violence., The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Must be proficient and experienced To collect blood samples from patients into appropriate containers., Managing large volumes of patients through 10 different clinical areas. Able to work outside in the busy drive through department.,
