Full Job Description

Are you a Physician Associate with a passion for improving the physical health of people with severe mental health problems? If so, we would love you to join us in our Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Team to cover maternity leave.

Our team has been developed as part of the community transformation program and focuses on improving the lives of up to ninety adults with complex psychosis. We are a truly multidisciplinary team comprised of, community mental health nurses, occupational therapists, drug recovery workers, social workers, a legal advisor, a psychologist, and a consultant psychiatrist.

We are committed to taking a Recovery focussed approach to enabling our service users to live meaningful and enjoyable lives.

People with complex psychosis suffer disproportionality from disability and reduced live expectancy, because of common preventable and treatable physical illnesses. Your role will be to engage our service users in improving their physical health.

Together we can help our service users live happier, healthier, more fulfilling, and longer lives., You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and practice under the supervision of the Team Consultant Psychiatrist. Regular weekly supervision will be provided.

You will be a full member of the team and attend daily morning meetings, weekly team meetings, and reflective practice.

You will engage with our service users to provide support and advise on lifestyle and health issues, including weight management and smoking cessation.

You will take the lead on ensuring all our service users receive the NICE recommended physical health monitoring for people with psychosis, as well as analyse and act on the results.

You will help service users access help for health problems, including liaising with general practitioners and hospital specialists, where service users have difficulty engaging with mainstream services.

You will be part of the Physician Associate network who meet weekly.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you'll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We're an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres.
