Full Job Description
As the Planning Policy lead, you will report directly to the Borough's Chief Planning Officer and will be responsible for leading on the Local Plan, which is shortly to be published for consultation. A sound Local Plan is vital if we are to deliver our vision for Swindon, and your role in leading that process is critical.
Are you looking to join an organisation where you have an amazing opportunity to make a difference, creating a town where your decisions last for hundreds of years and shape the lives of thousands of residents?
Do you want to work for an organisation that supports learning, career development and has a 'grow our own' culture? Our Planning function is part way through a transformational restructure. With nearly a dozen new roles recruited to over the last few months we are looking to complete the team to drive a new local plan and deliver economic growth and regeneration in line with the Planning and Infrastructure Bill and the National Planning Policy Framework.
As one of the fastest growing towns in the UK, Swindon combines large scale urban extensions with an ambitious but realistic regeneration agenda. Planning at Swindon allows you to get involved in anything from householder improvements to some of the country's largest housing and inward investment schemes. At the heart of the administration's agenda for change and improvement, Planning is a key enabler to not only the Council's 'Swindon Plan' but also to the Government's aspirations for housebuilding and growth.
