Full Job Description
Vacancies have arisen for Porters to join the busy Logistics Department at QA Hospital. Please note this advert may close early if needed.
Duties include communicate with patients relatives and clinical staff to ensure that wards and departments are fully aware of all patient/equipment movement. The collection of waste/dirty laundry from all areas and the operation of a large mechanical waste compactor which will include driving a vehicle., The posts are monthly paid, and a uniform is supplied. The successful applicants will receive a first class training package, which includes all training necessary to safely undertake Portering duties. Other benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement and the opportunity to join the NHS Pension Scheme., Dealing with expectations of patients, staff and visitors.
Occasionally removing, handling and reporting inappropriately discarded sharps e.g. used needles from public areas.
Patient choice - having to work around patients needs and clinical service provision.
Internal: Colleagues on shift, ward staff.
External Members of the public/visitors.
Porters will be expected to coach new staff on Portering tasks further to the initial training carried out.
Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential qualities required. A full clean driving licence is required
