Full Job Description
This postdoctoral position is fixed-term until 30 April 2025 and is part of the MIDAS Programme Grant (https://www.zr-midas.org/) on the effect of irradiation on the properties of zirconium alloys for use in the nuclear industry. This is a joint project between Oxford and Manchester Universities and Imperial College London, and several industrial partners. The post holder will undertake independent research on the mechanical properties of MIDAS samples, participate in the coordination of the wider project and provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including PhD and project students.
With a background in Materials or Materials Engineering, you will be self-motivated and able to plan and deliver a research project. You will have a PhD (or be near completion) in an appropriate area of materials science and experience in some of EBSD, TEM, FIB, nanoindentation and micromechanical testing techniques.
All applications must be made online using the Oxford University E-Recruitment system, no later than 12 noon on 6 December 2024. You will be required to upload a CV and a Supporting Statement as part of your application. Please do not attach any manuscripts, papers, transcripts, mark sheets or certificates as these will not be considered as part of your application.
