Full Job Description

To work towards achieving the targets laid down in the Quality and Outcomes Framework / Core Plus / IIF To be involved in the development of care guidelines / protocols in collaboration with the GPs for use in practice Referring to other members of the practice team as necessary To work in close collaboration with other primary care nurses, allied professionals, GPs, and practice staff to ensure continuity of patient care. Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule. Act as a chaperone when required. Select, carry out and interpret results of specific pathology and other tests. Carrying out seasonal clinics e.g., influenza To assist other clinicians in the event of any emergency or resuscitation incidents. To take the lead on Infection Prevention and Control carrying out 6 monthly audits using national guidance. Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice Manager. Administration Duties To
maintain accurate patient records and enter onto the computer using agreed templates and snomed codes. Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care. To collect data and participate in regular practice audit and research projects. To maintain own annual registration with the NMC and adhere to Code of Professional Conduct To ensure own revalidation is completed on time to continue smooth working practice. To check all Emergency Drugs Boxes on a weekly basis and ensure all items are replaced when expired / used. To check emergency resus equipment on a weekly basis. To carry out Infection Prevention and Control inspections monthly and producing an IPC Audit on an annual basis and reporting on any infection control issues highlighted throughout the year. To develop and review audit protocols and process for the practice, effectively utilising the audit cycle. To develop, review and implement nursing protocols in conjunction with the Partners.
Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA) Support the practice team with the reviewing and implementation of practice policies and protocols, ensuring conformance to extant legislation. Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice Manager or Nursing GP Lead. The post holder is expected to adhere to practice policies and procedures and relevant legislation including the requirements of any professional bodies. Attend mandatory training as identified by RHA. Highlight potential development areas. Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed upon them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974), to ensure that the agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors. To always promote a professional approach by attire and attitude to patients and staff both in and out of the practice. Attend and participate in
staff and Practice meetings and in-house clinical training sessions.
