Full Job Description
We are looking for a producer to work across our Non-Curriculum Teens portfolio, leading the outreach and school workshops for our news literacy project Other Side of the Story. The producer will identify, sign up and liaise with schools and organise a team of ambassadors and visits across the school year. They'll oversee an editorial refresh of the workshop content and work with internal and external partners to create relevant examples of how news literacy could improve the lives of young people. Attendance at, and input into, the schools workshops across the UK will be required. They'll work closely with the Other Side of the Story content and web team over the course of 10 months, looking at the best ways to maximise use of our content in classrooms and seeking to increase the reach of our work via multi-school and online events. The producer will also be expected to lead and oversee the livestream broadcast of the annual Christmas AI or Real Live Quiz for schools. They may also be required to help out in other areas of the non-currculum teens portfolio at times. They'll lead a team of APs to deliver these projects., You'll lead the team, providing editorial vision and day to day management. You'll be used to working on multiple projects at the same time, delivering to tight deadlines and be trusted to sign off and amend the content the team produce and have knowledge of the issues involved in working with children and young people. Full of ideas, with a good knowledge of which platforms to place them on you'll also enjoy connecting with other departments, teams and external organisations and dealing with indies and partners, as well as having a big passion for connecting with hard to reach audiences An ability to plan and deliver multi-layered projects, a passion for creating content that makes complex subjects fun and interesting to young audiences and experience of editorial decision making and journalistic principles would be welcomed.
- Dealing with other BBC departments and outside organisations.

- Demonstrable passion for news and current events and how to explain them to young people and a belief in BBC principles of impartiality and pursuing truth with no agenda.
- Experience of signing off, complying and editing content and scripts and managing teams.

- Ability to make complex issues fun, engaging and easy to understand.
- Experience of producing BBC Education Campaigns
- Creative ideas for different ways of doing things.
- Good contacts with outside agencies, celebrities and public figures. .
- Creative ideas for how to use public figures to engage the audience.
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of schools and how we can connect with them.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Experience of commissioning content and working with indies.
- Making or commissioning content for a Children's audience.

Job ref: 22049 Band: D Contract details: 1x FTC/attachment starting April 2025 finishing February 2026 Location: Media City, Salford with UK travel across schools required - This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office and location with home working. Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
