Full Job Description
To provide engineering support on new and existing Transformer products and to act as interface between engineering and operations. Continue to develop links between operational activities and other departments, including Engineering, Project Management, Procurement and Commercial Teams.,
- Create, maintain, and update product literature incl. SOPs, O&M Manuals, Installation Manuals and Design Records.
- Create new and review existing working practices to support the site CI initiatives
- Assist with manufacturing, product, and quality investigations.
- Assist with continuous improvement implementation within manufacturing and product design.
- Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) and the supporting activities between Product Design and Production.
- Support the implementation of RoadMap projects.
- Assist in implementation of approved projects, to include successful commissioning, qualification and handover.
- Undertaking any necessary trials and generation of information to support any change applications.
- Provide first line of contact to purchasing, production & QA in the event of component or assembly queries on existing products and new products.
- To support the combined Engineering Change and Development Review Process
- Assist in technical support for the selection of new & existing suppliers of equipment, processes and components.
- Supports with the introduction of new processes into the Loughborough facility.
- Assist in maintaining the production tooling calibrations and records
- Assist in arranging specialist training courses as requested
Recognised Apprenticeship would be of advantage. - Qualified to a degree level in an engineering discipline, preferably first degree or possessing appropriate industry experience
- Lean Six Sigma tools, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve & Control) principles and applications. Skills
- Good IT skills for use Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with positive attitude to meet deadlines and work schedules
- The ability to collaborate and agree outcomes Knowledge
- Proficient in the use of a MRP / ERP system.
- A good understanding of fundamental Mechanical and Electrical principles.
- Ability to use Solidworks and/or 3D CAD systems for interrogation and modification of existing designs and new design work
- knowledge of Power Transformers from 33-132KV
- Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA - design and process)
- An understanding of the basic functional and testing requirements of Transformer standards.
- Have an understanding of lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques and demonstrate the ability to develop skills within a team Experience
- Experience in problem solving with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
- Previous CAD drawing experience would be of advantage.
- Have experience in change and improvement processes.
- Experience in assisting in technical investigations and writing technical reports
- Experience in project participation, well developed planning skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in working with skilled specialist consultants
