Full Job Description
You will be a Registered Science Technician with the Science Council or GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician. If you do not currently possess the required qualification and registration status, you must be willing to undertake the Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT) course to gain these, in order to fulfil all elements of the job role. The SMT course runs over a 2 year period where tutoring sessions will be delivered online by subject matter experts weekly, accompanied by study time to complete relevant coursework and assignments.
NB. The post holder must be in possession of Level 3 relevant Pharmaceutical Sciences of equivalent qualification and be a registered GPhC or RSciTech Technician to work as a Band 4. If the post holder is working towards this or needs to undertake this qualification and registration the post holder will be paid a spot salary of £26,110 per annum until relevant qualification and registration is gained., In addition to the summary below you need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specification. This interesting and varied role will require you to process and manufacture a wide range of sterile medicines including chemotherapy and investigational medicinal products for clinical trial patients. The work will be varied and challenging, working to tight deadlines to achieve targets and respond to patient and customer needs. You should be able work under pressure, prioritise and organise workloads and be able to work alone or as part of a bigger team. We are looking for confident self-motivated individuals with excellent IT, communication, problem solving and decision making skills. You will need to be able to work unsupervised in all aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing, including: specialist aseptic dispensing, preparation of investigational medicinal products for clinical trial patients and work in specialised cleanroom environments using
specialist equipment., Post holder is required to work flexibly between shift patterns i.e. 07:00 - 15:15 and 08:45 - 17:00, Monday - Friday. As the service develops, you may be required to work a shift system including 7 day working patterns. The department offers a weekend and bank holiday service which you will be expected to participate in. If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. This is in line with the current guidance in England that whilst young people under the age of 18 can leave school (on the last Friday in June) they must then do one of the following:

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

ID and Right to work checks: NUH authenticate ID and right to work documentation including passports and driving licenses through a system called Trust ID. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.

+ Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
+ Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
