GKN Aerospace is at the forefront of cutting-edge Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) technology, shaping the future of sustainable aviation. We are looking for a Project Buyer to join our team and play a crucial role in the development and industrialisation of innovative aerospace solutions. As a Project Buyer, you will be responsible for leading procurement-related aspects of New Product Introduction (NPI), Modifications (MODs), and Supplier Work Transfer Projects. You will ensure the successful sourcing, risk management, and on-time delivery of components required for our groundbreaking aerospace initiatives.How You'll Contribute
- Develop and execute project plans for procurement activities related to NPI, MODs, and transfer projects, ensuring seamless sourcing-to-delivery transitions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (operations, procurement, and engineering teams) and external suppliers to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery.
- Risk management - Identify and mitigate potential procurement risks within each project.
- Lead supplier readiness reviews and conduct capacity planning to support NPI and supplier transfers.
- Ensure effective communication with internal and external customers, aligning procurement activities with business objectives.
- Manage direct and indirect resources within budget to successfully deliver projects.
- Oversee the transition of supplier schedules post-FAI (First Article Inspection) to ensure a smooth handover to procurement operations.
- Champion Export Control compliance activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and site policies.
- Maintain high standards of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance and reporting. - CIPS certification or equivalent procurement qualification (certification check required).
- Minimum of 5+ years of procurement experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects, including supplier transfers.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Experience in risk assessment and supplier development processes. Desirable:
- Aerospace industry experience.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with Export Control Regulations.
- Experience in working within a global supply chain environment.
