Full Job Description

In our facility, we start with raw materials such as flour and yeast to make a great pizza crust, topping with sauce and ingredients to make a fantastic, finished pizza and then freezing and packaging the pizzas for retail distribution. As a Quality Assurance Technician at Dr. Oetker, you will work within a team of Quality associates in conjunction with Production that produces the highest quality Dr. Oetker pizza where food safety and security are of the utmost importance. In this role you will:

  • Responsible for inspecting and testing incoming ingredients, finished goods, and packaging materials.
  • All analysis will be completed according to approved methods utilizing an implemented quality program for chemical, physical, microbiological and sensory parameters.
  • Other activities include quality control line auditing checks, conducting internal audits (GMP, PP and HACCP), communicating quality issues and activities across departments, coordinating the microbiological environmental monitoring program, providing employees with GMP/HACCP training, and participating in continuous improvement projects.
  • Strive for improvements in your own area and others.
  • Uphold and contribute to Food Safety practices.
  • Consistently follow all Dr. Oetker Health & Safety and Food Safety & Security policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    University degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science or a College Diploma within a related field
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a chemical or microbiological laboratory.
  • Working knowledge of various food laboratory equipment and testing methodology for a food processing plant.
  • Computer skills and experience working with SAP or similar systems are an asset.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP systems with experience as a HACCP team member or a HACCP coordinator in a food plant is preferred.
  • Effectively communicate with plant employees and department supervisors or managers.
  • Work independently, precisely and with initiative in a high paced environment.
  • Able to work under conditions of hot / cold temperatures.
  • Physical essential abilities are handling heavy loads (up to 25 KG), manual dexterity, attention to detail, good hand-eye co-ordination, and bending, twisting, and lifting abilities, along with the ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail.
  • This position requires the ability to support off shifts, work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to touch and work with pork, chicken and beef products.
