Full Job Description
Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK's climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the Sizewell C Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We have a fantastic opportunity for several Quality Management Leads to ensure that the Sizewell C project quality requirements are complied with across the full project life-cycle.
As the Quality Management Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring excellence across our delivery programmes. You'll oversee quality assurance and control activities, ensuring that projects and suppliers meet the rigorous quality requirements defined by our programmes.
This is a challenging yet deeply rewarding role where collaboration is key. You'll work hand-in-hand with Project Managers (PMs), Quality Delivery Managers (QDMs), project teams, contracted inspection agencies, supply chain partners, and both internal and external regulators.
Your leadership will directly impact the success of our projects by ensuring that every step adheres to the highest quality standards. If you're driven by precision, collaboration, and the chance to make a tangible difference, this role is your opportunity to shine!
The Role
You'll ensure supply-chain adherence to the contracted quality assurance and quality control requirements, as well as supporting the Quality Director and Quality Delivery Managers with achieving adherence with the Integrated Management System arrangements.
You'll help to:
Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control arrangements across the business.
Lead the review, acceptance, and monitoring of Contractors Quality Assurance Plans (CQAP).
Produce Project Quality Control Plans (PQCP) and ensure compliance with key quality contractual arrangements.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including contracted inspection entities.
Perform audits, surveillance, and joint inspections to maintain quality standards.
Lead the resolution of non-conformances and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Review and deliver end-of-manufacturing records for equipment release.
We're looking for someone with hands-on experience, ideally in a similar regulated industry, who knows how to prioritise quality every step of the way.
Here's what will set you apart:
- A deep understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Control across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning.
- Expertise in Quality Systems, ISO standards, and-bonus points-familiarity with nuclear sector regulations.
- Exceptional communication skills that help you build strong, effective relationships.
- A proven track record of leadership, with the ability to influence, challenge constructively, and inspire those around you.
- Experience managing suppliers and conducting thorough supplier audits.
- Nuclear sector experience is an advantage.
EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group, one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in the UK, France, Italy and Belgium. We're the UK's largest producer of low-carbon electricity, the biggest supplier of electricity by volume in Great Britain, the largest supplier to British businesses and we employ more than 13,000 people. We operate nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat & power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We are playing a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK to secure a bright future for the combined business and its employees., Sizewell C Limited (Sizewell C) is nuclear site licensed company whose business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Sizewell C was formerly under the majority ownership of the EDF Group but is currently majority owned by HM Government and operates as an independent company. EDF remains a key shareholder in Sizewell C and the business therefore maintains close links to EDF as a part of its 'nuclear family'.
As a Sizewell C employee, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email, or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.
- Sizewell C Limited will be moving offices from 90 Whitfield Street to 25 Copthall Avenue. 25 Copthall Avenue is a modern building just a short walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. Sizewell C will occupy the whole of the 4th floor. We are targeting a move in February 2025. This role will be contractually based at 25 Copthall Avenue. However, depending on the date of the move there may be a period that you will be required to work temporarily from our existing office at 90 Whitfield Street.
