Full Job Description

As a member of the MPY R&D, Fire & Insulation laboratory, Fire Testing Team, your role is to support new product development and other business critical projects. This will involve preparing steel specimens, setup and carrying out fire performance testing, using gas fired furnaces as well as Cryogenic Testing using liquid Nitrogen.,

  • Prepare steel test sections for Fire testing, furnace test setup & dismantling.
  • Plan & schedule day to day requirements for assigned projects & support activities.
  • Run furnace tests.
  • Perform quench & spill tests of coated steel test pieces.
  • Record results & follow the laboratory administration process.
  • Work & operate safely.

    GCSE in Math's and English, NVQ (or equivalent). (Please note, a degree is not required for this role. We have other opportunities available for those with a degree qualification)
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoys a collaborative working environment where supporting colleagues is key.
  • Good understanding of the importance of H&S.

  • Experience in working in an industrial/ production environment.
  • A qualification in an engineering/ mechanical subject an advantage.
  • FLT licence desirable.
