Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Reader to join the IMPlementation and Capacity building Team (IMPaCT), which works in partnership with NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (ARC NWC) and its member organisations, including regional universities, NHS, local authorities and third sector organisations. This is a fixed term contract until 31/3/2026 due to limited funding.

The Reader will undertake internationally recognised research in the Applied Health Research hub (AHRh) and support the implementation of the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast's (ARC NWC) strategic approach to research capacity building, in terms of its development, delivery, and evaluation.

They will lead the IMPlementation and Capacity building Team (IMPaCT), overseeing high quality research, implementation, evaluation and scholarly activity .They will support the development of the research team, expanding research and scientific support activity with colleagues and professional bodies to advance research across AHRh. They will actively contribute to the creation of a vibrant research environment and support the development of programmatic research to promote the sustainability of world-class research at the university, working closely with colleagues, partner and professional organisations across NW Coast, nationally and internationally.

The post holder will have knowledge of education and training for research within a health and/or social care environment, demonstration of the ability to conduct world-leading research and a strong track record of research leadership such as the management of research teams. They will also have experience of research management and administration in a university department or similar educational or research unit. Evidence of a strong publication record and success in obtaining competitive research funding as principal investigator; and the ability to contribute to the REF or related exercise is also required.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in education, health or social care topic and research experience in a relevant topic as well as supervision of research students to completion.
