Full Job Description

1. Receive patients and relatives at reception in a friendly and courteous manner.
2. Answer all telephone enquiries, taking and relaying messages in a polite and helpful manner, taking action as appropriate.
3. To maintain patient details / appointments efficiently on the patient administration system. This will include registration of patient referral letters and statusing of clinics.
4. To book new and follow up outpatient appointments and ensure all patients are advised of their appointments with reasonable notice or after negotiation with the patient.
5. To cancel and rebook follow up patients on clinics as directed by senior colleagues.
6. To liaise with nurses, doctors, GP's and other members of the department to provide a quality service for the patients.
7. Be aware of and adhere to national waiting time targets when scheduling patient appointments.
8. To carry out other clerical duties as required; this will include note preparation, filing of appointment letters, opening and sorting of post, copying and distribution of patient information leaflets, basic typing.
9. To provide administrative support for the whole department as required and undertake any additional duties as requested by senior colleagues and management staff.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent customer service and communication skills to join our busy and friendly Diabetes & Endocrinology Administration team that is based in the Diabetes Centre A19 at the Royal United Hospital.
To provide an appropriate "front of house" service to all patients who are undergoing consultation / treatment principally with the RUH Diabetes & Endocrinology Department.
To provide a full comprehensive reception and clerical service in support of the professional staff involved in patient care.
Prospective candidates should possess a professional attitude to their work and have the ability to work flexibly in a busy environment.
