Reporting to the Regional Operations Director (Aggregates and Asphalt) the role of Recycled Asphalt Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective recovery of planings for recycling into the Asphalt business along with supporting the National Team on managing Tarmac's asphalt filler requirements and external offering. This role involves 24/7 operations, requiring strong leadership, logistical expertise, and commercial acumen to meet budgeted RAP demand across the region. The RAP Manager will develop and implement strategies to win and deliver planings work, optimise haulage, and foster close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive performance and innovation. The role of Recycled Asphalt Manager will also be responsible for:
- Strategic Planning and Coordination: Develop and agree on the RAP and Filler strategy with key stakeholders (Senior Operations Managers, CI Manager and Pave Directors). Produce and execute a logistics plan to meet both customer and Tarmac requirements. Continuously review supply and demand to adjust the strategy as required
- Operational Management: Assess and allocate the resources needed to deliver the planings recovery program and filler requirements to both internal and external market. Ensure the RAP Coordinators are effectively assigned to jobs for safe and efficient operations. Supervise out-of-hours work, ensuring proper action plans are in place for unplanned events
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all required documentation, including Site Waste Management Plans is completed and returned correctly. Maintain compliance with SAP routines, ensuring prices, quotes, and job details are correctly implemented
- Collaboration and Communication: Maintain close communication with logistics/distribution teams to optimise internal haulage use including delivery of Internal Filler. Engage regularly with commercial teams to align on operational processes. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on KPIs, performance versus forecast, and budgetary targets. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation to optimise performance You will work extremely closely with Operations Managers, Transport Manager, Distribution team and W/B clerks, link room, Commercial Teams, Pave Contract managers, Area Ops Managers, NRP Business Unit.
- Proven ability to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Determination to optimise performance with a continuous improvement mindset
- Confidence to overcome obstacles with flexibility and adaptability to manage conflicting demands
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively negotiate
- Good IT skills preferably including SAP
- Safety awareness and knowledge of Asphalt Surfacing and Planing process
- Strong logistical capability to deliver the strategy in the most cost-effective way, supporting interaction with both internal and external stakeholders
- WAMITAB, EPOC or equivalent environmental degree advantageous
