Summary
University of Sheffield
Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a complex neurodegenerative disorder characterised by the loss of dopaminergic neurons. The Mortiboys lab at the Sheffield Institute for Neuroscience (SITraN) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral candidate to lead a project focused on compound testing via high-throughput screening of dopaminergic neurons derived from Induced neural progenitor cells (iNPCs).
This project will involve the differentiation of iNPCs into dopaminergic neurons using the iDA differentiation protocol, followed by high-content imaging using the Opera Phenix platform to assess the impact of various compounds on mitochondrial morphology and function. The successful candidate will have a strong background in stem cell biology, high-content imaging, and data analysis. The candidate will be working at Prof Heather Mortiboys' lab at the Sheffield Institute for Neuroscience (SITraN), an award-winning centre for excellence for the study of neurodegenerative diseases and drug-discovery.
