Full Job Description
We are pushing forward the state of the art in predicting and optimising RNA for multiple characteristics, including expression, half-life and ribosomal load in media and cells. In this position, you will be working closely with a cross-functional team of research engineers and computational biologists to understand and model translational kinetics. This work will help scientists advance our understanding of RNA biology and develop personalised treatments that improve clinical outcomes and profoundly impact peoples' lives. \n Role Responsibilities:
- Support the efforts of the RNA team, and the BioAI department generally, through the development of novel methods and applications of AI to biology.
- Work in a cross functional team of research engineers, computer biologists, and scientists from dry and wet labs at InstaDeep and BioNTech.
- Design, implement, and test deep learning methods for understanding the rules of RNA translation.
- Conduct rigorous data analysis and statistical testing to explain and improve models.
- Report results clearly and efficiently, both internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
- Write high-quality, maintainable, and modular code together with precise documentation.
- Contribute to team research and publications.
Recent graduate of a M.S, PhD degree or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline. - Excellent programming experience in Python.
- Good knowledge of state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms, and classical machine learning methods.
- Experience using a machine learning framework (PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow).
- Data science and statistics experience including data visualisations, data processing, statistical testing, etc.
- Strong desire to work with biological applications.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Proficiency with version control (git) and best coding practices.
- Experience with docker and cloud infrastructures for storage and compute.
- Good knowledge of transformers.
- Appropriate work permit for the UK for the duration of the internship. BENEFICIAL
- Knowledge of RNA science and immunology.
- Knowledge of current research in deep learning applied to biology (especially RNA and ribosomes).
- Research and software engineering experience demonstrated via previous work, contributions to open source, or coding competitions.
