Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Band 6 Children's Research Nurse to join the Paediatric Research Team based at the Great North Children's Hospital and the Clinical Research Facility in Newcastle upon Tyne. This post will be based between the 2 areas within the Royal Victoria Infirmary site and will give the successful candidate a wide variety of research studies from phase I - phase IV. The successful candidate will receive full support from the GNCH/CRF Research Teams with regards to research specific training and skills. This a clinical patient facing post, which requires a dynamic individual who can work both individually and as part of a team. Research Nurses are supported to develop professionally and lead on their own caseload of projects under the guidance of the Senior Research Nurse. As a Research Nurse you will be responsible for recruiting and following up patients in new and active research studies as well as supporting other team members with their studies as required. You must be able to work autonomously, and as part of a team. You may be involved in delivering research to patients that is cutting - edge, with new therapies being explored including Gene therapy. This post may involve some out of hours working when required in order to meet the needs of the service, and fulfil protocol mandated timelines.,

  • Work as part of the research MDT.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care.
  • Work in accordance with GCP.
  • Follow up patients in line with study protocols.
  • Process lab samples in line with study protocols.
  • Safe administration of investigational medicinal products to patients if required.
  • Recruit to study targets.
  • Work between GNCH and CRF.
