Research Technician

We seek a Research Technician to support our research in understanding how the crosstalk between the nervous system and the endocrine pancreas impacts glucose homeostasis in health and disease. This is a full-time (36.5 hours per week) D-grade technician position funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), available immediately on a fixed-term basis until 31st October 2027. The primary function of this position is to provide laboratory support for the lab of Dr. Carol Yang. The Yang lab is part of the vibrant Exeter Centre of Excellence for Diabetes Research. The candidate will be working very closely with members of the Yang lab (including the principal investigator, postdocs, and students) and our collaborative partners.

The Research Technician will take on a leading role in the maintenance of our collection of genetically modified zebrafish lines, provide general lab support, and assist in the completion of research projects funded by the MRC. The candidate would have the opportunity to learn the relevant skills required for completing the research projects and access to a supportive environment to advance their professional development. Lab skills the candidate would develop include zebrafish handling, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, molecular biology, whole-mount staining and in vivo microscopy.
