Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and proactive Research Technician to join the research laboratory led by Dr Roberto Galizi at Keele University. The successful candidate will contribute to a research effort aimed to develop capacity and expertise of African scientists in molecular biology, bioinformatics and vector genetics applied to the control of malaria-transmitting mosquitoes. The role will involve technical support with molecular techniques, mosquito genetic engineering, and remote assistance with the development of a new research and training centre at the USTTB in Mali.
The successful candidate will hold either a HNC or NVQ Level 4 qualification or have equivalent experience. Experience of working in a laboratory setting is essential along with theoretical and practical knowledge of standard molecular biology techniques such as molecular cloning, DNA/RNA/Protein extraction/purification, PCR/qPCR and gel electrophoresis.
