Full Job Description

The Research Technician will support a wide range of research activities in the Manchester Fungal Infection Group and to contribute to specific ongoing research projects. This will involve independently performing Wellcome Trust and MRC grant-funded experiments, contributing to experimental design, consultation with other researchers, data analysis, presentation, and reporting. The post also involves training, advisory and supervisory roles, supporting staff and students to ensure compliance with University procedures and regulations, particularly Health and Safety legislation. Lab management duties will include maintenance, advice and induction with regard to the procurement of consumables and use of equipment and general laboratory organisation. The post holder will need to liaise with others to ensure they have a clear understanding of the needs of the School, Faculty and University in order to achieve their goals.

Applicants will preferably have knowledge and experience of molecular biology, immunological, protein purification and/or microbiological techniques.
