Full Job Description

You will be the first port of call for visitors to the respiratory centre; providing a welcoming environment for all. The post holder will need to be an efficient, reliable, and responsive patient administrator, who will be a valuable member of our team. The post holder will be responsible for; welcoming patients , booking clinics, clinic reception, daily administration tasks, managing the nurses diaries. The role is in relation to Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), NTM, pleural clinic and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. The post holder will work closely with all members of the respiratory team.,

  • To answer the Respiratory Nurses phone, which requires accurate message taking
  • To provide reception cover with booking of telephone appointments and answering patient queries. Adding patient referrals.
  • To book follow-up appointments within the required timeframe and to highlight capacity
  • To support the emailing of letters to GPs and posting to patients
  • To support the Admin Team with the collecting and dispatching of post to the Post Room in a timely fashion
  • To liaise with internal and external professionals and departments and the general public as and when required, in a friendly, professional and courteous manner
  • To deal with general enquiries in an appropriate and sensitive manner as efficiently as possible, either in person, over the telephone or in writing from staff, patients and the general public.
  • To liaise with other Trust staff as necessary within the hospital and with other external
  • organisations.
  • Providing cover for colleagues' annual leave and sickness, as required and as directed
  • To attend regular team meetings/huddles
  • Undertaking statutory training courses as required by the Trust and to undertake any other relevant training deemed necessary to perform the job to an acceptable standard.
  • Participate in the Trust Individual Performance Review (IPR) process on at least an annual basis.
  • To adhere to NHS Trust and Department procedures and policies
  • Work without supervision, problem solve and take initiative where required.

    We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Full time NHS administrator/receptionist to provide support for the respiratory nursing team. Candidates will work alongside an established and supportive team of administrators and clinicians and have excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise their workload and have excellent communication and customer care skills. Previous experience of a public facing administrative role, with reception duties is preferred alongside knowledge of the practices and processes within the NHS.
