Full Job Description
The Clinical Treatment Team are seeking to appoint a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse on a part time basis for a fixed term period of 1 year.
This post provides the opportunity for a forward thinking individual to develop and implement safe, sound and supportive services that embrace the provision of holistic care. With a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working and the principles laid out in the Recovery Model, you will need to be an innovative thinker and be able to form effective relationships.
You will be a registered mental health nurse, with excellent clinical skills, ideally trained in venepuncture, although training can be given to the right candidate. You will be required to have a working knowledge of physical health conditions that can cause contra-indications for the patient, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome and be able to carry out effective physical health monitoring in line with policy and procedure, signposting on to other services where necessary.
This role would suit a newly qualified nurse, training will be given. Please note, this position is to cover Fylde Coast - Lytham, Blackpool and Fleetwood area.
You will be required to undertake the administration of medications.
You may be required to move clinical areas at either short notice or no notice in order to meet the changing needs of the service.
You may be asked to participate in the process of internal rotation as and when required., You will work within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of clinical duties, including, but not limited to ECT (Electro Convulsive Therapy), administering depot medication at depot clinic, taking bloods at clozaril clinics, monitoring physical health of patients who attend aforementioned clinics and
You will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Nurse; you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.
You will actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct. You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process.
You will provide support to the nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users.
You will exercise professional responsibility using skills and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
You will be required to offer clinical and managerial leadership to Health Care Assistants (HCA's),Band 3 or 4, as part of your role within the team. You may be required to take on tasks that require you to operate electronic staffing record systems such as PDR/supervision.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
