Full Job Description

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated midwife to join our friendly maternity service. The right candidate will be an experienced midwife, with a genuine passion for safety and risk management

The successful candidate will continue to work clinical on a regular basis

The Safety Lead Midwife is a full member of the Midwifery Governance Team committed to promoting and maintaining high quality and safe standards of clinical practice across the maternity service.

She is responsible for coordinating all elements of risk management including taking an active role in the Maternity Safety Team, managing the datix system for maternity and obstetrics, reviewing cases of concern, carrying out RCAs and other clinical reviews, discussing issues of concern with staff involved in cases and highlighting trends and/or poor practice to the management team. She will also be closely involved in the roll-out and successful establishment of PSIRF. She attends some external meetings where relevant. The main focus will be on robust and high quality day to day management of risk and safety within the department.
