The post holder is expected to work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring all aspects of perioperative care, following appropriate training encompassing a variety of specialties.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care with direct supervision and will be expected to demonstrate procedures and supervise unqualified staff.

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and motivated, qualified or experienced nurse or ODP to join our exceptional neurosurgical theatre team. The Neurosurgery service is based in our main theatre suite at the University Hospital of Wales and has a reputation for providing outstanding clinical outcomes for our patients. We have two dedicated neurosurgical theatres that provide comprehensive neurosurgical service for adult and paediatric patients with cranial and spinal disorders. We carry out complex neurosurgery in collaboration with the multi-specialist teams. We also provide services such as neuromodulation surgery, and neurosurgery for epilepsy which gives us close links with the Health and Care Research Wales funded BRAIN Unit. Our paediatric neurosurgery service includes hydrocephalus, trauma, brain and spinal tumour, spinal dysraphism repairs and epilepsy surgery.

As one of the most specialist services provided within the Health Board that covers the whole of South and Mid Wales, our Neurosurgical team is renowned as a highly skilled and vital part of the wider Perioperative Care Directorate.
