Full Job Description

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Birmingham. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream school, a specialist school or adulthood., We are looking for a tutor to support a 16 year old with regulating his emotions and his academics. Our pupil has ADHD and mild learning difficulties and can sometimes find it difficult to manage his behaviour and emotions when he is distressed. He is a caring and sociable boy who is creative and has many interests. Listening to music, production and music related activities are some of his favourites, including dancing and Drill music. He has a knack for solving mysteries and likes to stay active by doing gymnastics. Our pupil is keen to keep up to speed with his education and particularly enjoys maths - he needs some more support with literacy.

The ideal tutor would be someone who shares some of his interests and can incorporate these to make learning more enjoyable. Someone who is fun and energetic would be a great match for our pupil's personality, who could also help him develop social skills along the way. Some essential qualities we look for in our tutors are sensitivity and empathy, as some of our pupils have faced difficulties and challenging environments so they need a more sensitive and nurturing approach to learning.

You'll have some experience with SEN: ADHD, mild learning difficulties, behaviours of concern
You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way
You'll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
You'll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan
Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning
Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils
Use a person-centred approach in their work
Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do
Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.

At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.
