Full Job Description

As a Senior Engineer, you'll provide technical engineering input, support, and advice throughout the Operational Property Buildings portfolio in line with asset policy and technical strategy. It includes developing, planning, and conducting assurance activities to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Candidates should ideally come from a construction industry, surveying, or property background, with experience in leading building fabric, services, or data management. We need you to contribute to the development of data analysis to identify emerging trends in lead indicators before asset failure and carry out further analysis. This includes handling data for dashboards that track compliance levels on various subjects and metrics to assure the performance of Operational Property assets. Our Senior Engineers play a pivotal part in supporting the implementation of activities mandated by Network Rail policy and standards, integrating legislation and international standards where necessary, and ensuring these are communicated to the broader Regional Buildings community. Responsibilities include monitoring and analysing technical and asset-related data to spot trends and pinpoint areas that need attention to mitigate risk within the Operational Property portfolio. Monitoring of the financial performance of the Routes delivery against budget. Additionally, the role requires managing the follow-up of all asset-specific safety recommendations from internal and external incident investigations. The role would suit an experienced Building Surveyor, Building Services Engineer, Renewals and Enhancement Engineer or experienced construction industry professional. Lastly, the role involves planning and driving Engineering Verification activities under the Regional Assurance Plan. This is a hybrid working opportunity – with the requirement to be in the office 2/3 days a week. This role can be based out of Manchester, Birmingham, or Milton Keynes.About the role (External) Every day will be different, but you can expect to be involved in the following activities: 1. Provide expert advice input and support associated with the provision of services for our customers and suppliers. 2. Support professional leadership for a designated engineering discipline. 3. Provide expert advice, support and input to technical accident and incident investigations. 4. Support the setting of policy and standards, operational processes and systems. Manage the design and delivery of programmes for the development of technical capability required within Network Rail, including the competence framework and effective training materials. 5. Provide the technical input to the development of the standards, specifications, means of compliance and KPIs for Asset Management, including system risks. Support engineering analysis and risk assessment, including assessment of applications for derogations and non-compliance. 6. Discharge Network Rail's CDM related duties as required by company process. 7. Support the development of strategy, technology and assets across functions and with industry partners. Liaise with product manufacturers, including external stakeholder e.g. TOC and provide input into the acceptance processes. 8. Proactively research and respond to changes in the internal and external requirements and practice which impact upon policy and standards. 9. Identify opportunities for technical and business process improvement and innovation, developing business cases and Investment Papers where required. 10. Support Engineering Verification activities. 11. Act as Delivery Manager for delivery of a specific project or portfolio of projects and deliver projects to time, cost and quality. 12. Represent Network Rail externally to the industry and input to European issues as required. 13. Integrate and co-ordinate activity across different engineering disciplines and contribute to the development of engineers within the practice.

· Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience (Level 6) · Membership of a relevant technical body · Broad technical engineering experience · Project or financial planning and management experience We would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be: · Management or supervisory experience · Chartered status · Formal Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE2, PMIP, MSP) · Proven ability in managing commercial, contractual and financial issues · Knowledge of the railway industry and a understanding of railway infrastructure
