Do you want to join a Legal function that will give you fantastic exposure? The role of Senior Legal Counsel delivers effective, efficient and business-orientated legal services to Sopra Steria in relation to its business activities, to ensure that legal, governance and related issues are properly understood and factored into decision making. You will be given full authority within your role and empowered to deliver upon the day-to-day responsibilities. The role can be based out of Hemel Hempstead or London offices, with regular team interactions to ensure you feel apart of your peer group. Key Responsibilities

  • Advise Sopra Steria managers on legal matters relevant to its business to ensure that legal, governance and related issues are properly understood and factored into decision making.
  • Legal advisor on large business transactions and public procurements, analyse contract documents, including major customer standard forms, advise on and draft responses to proposed terms of business, draft new agreements, amendments and other documentation negotiate agreements and other documentation. to ensure that legal, governance and related issues are properly understood and factored into decision making.
  • Contribute to managing Legal Services Department drive change to match (and lead) the company as it changes, drive continuous improvement in line with internal client expectations.
  • Instruct and manage external counsel for the company as appropriate to ensure best value and quality of service.
  • Contribute to central function management meetings and decisions to keep up to date with business developments requiring legal input and to ensure that legal and governance matters are taken into account by Sopra Steria managers.
  • Promote, organise and deliver education and awareness on relevant legal issues for Sopra Steria people so that people have an understanding of legal issues appropriate to their responsibilities.
  • Participate in decisions on strategy, commercial policy and specific commercial transactions to ensure that legal, governance and related issues are properly understood and factored in. What you'll bring:
  • Qualified to practise law in the UK or in another common law jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and advise on legal matters in the areas of business undertaken by the company.
  • Experience with IS/IT contracts (SaaS/cyber issues/AI).
  • Experience of leading negotiations of high-value contracts in the Sopra Steria areas of business.
  • Previous experience of legal practice involving public sector contracts.
  • Data Protection.
  • Dispute management.
