Full Job Description

As Team Leader you will be a self-motivated, pro-active individual with both excellent time management and organizational skills. You will lead the team to provide high quality Diagnostic Imaging Services at Brent Cross Hub. The role encompasses supporting junior staff to develop skills and help to embed a continuous quality improvement culture across the service. The post holder will act as an exemplar and professional role-model in embracing core values of Excellence, Equity and Kindness. As a team leader you will work both clinically and managerially to undertake day to day supervision of the team working with the Ophthalmic Technician Manager to ensure safe staffing. There may be a requirement to work across sites, for which you will receive adequate notification., LEADERSHIP
- Lead, manage and motivate imaging staff, ensuring appropriate management structures, policies and practices are in place to achieve high levels of performance
- Work with the Ophthalmic Technician Manager to support the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective imaging care
- Troubleshoot and escalate any capacity and demand concerns to Ophthalmic Technician Manager
- Liaise and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to effectively manage the day to day running of Service
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide management and Leadership to the staff at Brent Cross Hub
- Providing day-to-day expertise, guidance, and instruction to the team
- Recruit and induct new members of staff, including training with regard to trust/ department/specialty policies and procedures
- Monitoring, reporting and management of sickness absence in line with Trust Policy and Procedure
- Oversight of statutory training and compliance of staff under remit
- Ensuring there are one to one meetings, organized for staff under remit, to ensure both personal and professional development is monitored
- Promote a positive and effective working environment by motivating and communicating with staff at all times
- Conduct and review clinic monthly audits, Perform a range of clinical, diagnostic, and imaging examinations including:
OCT Imaging
Humphrey Visual Field tests
History taking and assessing visual acuity
Topography and Tomography Imaging
Biometry scans
Well-developed physical skills (manual dexterity)
Responsibility for the safe use of expensive and highly complex imaging equipment
Follow established departmental policies for imaging techniques and be guided by standard operating procedures and good practice, but be able to justify the need to vary from SOP when necessary
Work within scope of practice
Undertake all mandatory training including instillation of dilating drops
Provide computer graphic services and operate several information systems relating to imaging
Conduct simple maintenance and calibration of equipment
