Being a Research and Development Senior Packaging Specialist, in the world's largest food manufacturer, is a highly valued position to hold. It's a role about discovering, developing and leading improvements of new and existing branded packaging through the entire life cycle, ensuring timeliness, cost and quality., As R&D Senior Packaging Specialist you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, leveraging your expertise to scout for relevant new technologies to support the development and execution of our science & technology roadmaps. The role will be working with 50+ confectionery factories globally, so we are looking for someone who has experience of working in a global role, who is able to travel and adapt to international markets. We're looking for someone who's passionate about packaging, with significant experience of leading complex and high-profile packaging projects and the drive to implement their ideas once they've spotted an opportunity, however tough the challenges. You'll be responsible for making new packaging concepts for our products a reality and for ensuring that the packaging we're already using is both sustainable and consistently of a high quality. You will lead & support packaging development projects through the entire life cycle to first product or technology launch, at the same time effectively acquiring and capturing new packaging knowledge, enabling the realisation of new technologies. Managing project stakeholders, negotiating with key decision makers and leveraging internal and external networks will be essential for your success. You also need to be great at influencing and enthusing people to get your ideas off the ground in the first place, and as at home in a factory as you are in a project meeting with a brand manager. Reporting to the Packaging Lead, this role will give you the opportunity to further develop your skills and really make a difference delivering innovative confectionery packaging solutions.

  • Extensive packaging development experience, possessing a relevant qualification or degree in Packaging.
  • Scientific based material knowledge in flexible plastic and paper packaging, which are widely used in confectionery is desired.
  • You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record in packaging related technology development as well as successful project management (e.g. product launch on time, budget and quality) and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Your outstanding collaboration and communication skills will make you highly effective in knowledge sharing as well as building effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Your ability to deal with ambiguous and complex problems will enable you to understand and analyse process and technical aspects, then translate complex information into simple concepts, communicating effectively to meet the overall project and business strategies.

    Salary: Circa £55,000 per annum (dependent upon experience) plus excellent companywide benefits including - car allowance, annual discretionary bonus, 12 flex days, generous pension and many other excellent benefits.
