Full Job Description

As a Senior Programme Manager working within Projects Group at Transport for Greater Manchester you will work collaboratively with our rail industry partners to:

1. Strategically lead TfGM's Rail Programme in the development and delivery of complex multi-disciplinary rail projects

2. Lead and motivate a team of project and programme professionals to meet committed milestones and budgets and ensure successful outcomes in line with TfGM's vision for the Bee Network

3. Build and maintain an effective supply chain, ensuring alignment with project needs to deliver value for money for TfGM

4. Build strong, effective relationships at a senior level with rail industry partners, key stakeholders and internal departments to secure necessary approvals, funding and support for projects.

5. Experience of positively leading high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives, and embedding a positive, supportive team culture.

In addition you will be a key member of the Projects Group Leadership Group team taking an active role in leading the day to day running of the function., This particular role is within our Rail programme team who have an increasingly important role in delivering Greater Manchester's ambitious and exciting proposals to implement the Bee Network. This role provides a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the thousands of residents, businesses and visitors who utilise our transport infrastructure on a daily basis.

As well as developing and delivering an ambitious programme of funded schemes you will have the opportunity to help shape future rail infrastructure proposals, working closely with our rail industry partners and other key stakeholders.

As a Senior Programme Manager you will have significant senior experience in leading the development and delivery of Rail projects and programmes of varied complexity and value and proven experience and capability in leading and growing teams either in project delivery or management.

You will have a track record in delivering on time, within budget and in line with stakeholder requirements. You will have strong problem solving and negotiation skills and be able to work under pressure and within constrained timescales. You will be able to interpret complex written and numerical data to meet funding and schedule targets.

This role will involve day to day management and leadership of teams and therefore you will have proven leadership skills and a track record in growing and developing individuals within a complex technical environment.

You will have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of senior stakeholders, using a variety of forms of communication - including political, professional and public audiences.

Projects Group are a 150 strong department within TfGM who lead in the development and delivery of a range of projects and programmes across a diverse range of Programme areas on behalf of Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

The role is a permanent position within an experienced and supported team working across TfGM and also rail industry partners.
