Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research and Evaluation Division in Public Health Wales as a Senior Public Health Researcher. This role is part of a NIHR funded research programme on digital inclusion and inequalities. The aims of the project are to develop a digital exclusion typology; critically appraise digital inclusion initiatives in Wales and across the UK and identify areas for future evaluation to share learning for digital health systems, ensuring no one is left behind., Public Health Wales is the National Public Health Institute in Wales. This requires expertise in systematically identifying, critically appraising, and synthesising relevant research, using specialist software such as NVivo and R, alongside literature review management tools (e.g., Rayyan, Mendeley or EndNote) and integrating diverse sources using rigorous synthesis methods.

To support our all Wales service, we particularly welcome applications from Welsh speakers., Joining an interdisciplinary team, you will draw on your strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a team across organisational boundaries. Your responsibilities will include delivering a high-quality theory-building evidence review, requiring the synthesis of qualitative and quantitative data, to understand the drivers of digital exclusion. You will build a UK wide network of key stakeholders across multiple organisations and individual experts to identify digital inclusion initiatives for future evaluation., The ideal candidate will have a passion for addressing digital health inequalities. You should be highly motivated to deliver robust evidence to inform action while demonstrating an aptitude for both independent and collaborative work., You will use your knowledge and experience in participatory or co-production methods to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from public and voluntary sectors. You will also explore research and evaluation opportunities with external partners and seek external funding to advance our understanding of digital society and health in Wales.
You will contribute to the production of a range of published outputs for policy-makers and practitioners, often under tight deadlines, and communicate complex information clearly through written and verbal presentations. This includes tailoring presentation methods to suit diverse multi-disciplinary audiences and their understanding of analytical techniques.

To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route. The salary scale shown is for a full-time member of staff, with the amount being adjusted pro rata for those working less than 37.5 hours per week.
In general, anyone joining our Trust who has not previously worked in the NHS will, by default, start on the first point of the advertised pay band. Pay progression will then be determined by annual Performance and Development Reviews in accordance with the NHS Wales Pay Progression Policy. An application for Incremental Credit may be considered, but can only be awarded based on evidenced, reckonable service and/or equivalent, relevant experience.
