Full Job Description
Candidates will need to be familiar with performing and reporting a wide range of lung function and sleep tests, as per the job description. The successful candidate will work across both Arrowe park and Clatterbridge site delivering both lung function and sleep services. At times, it may be necessary to travel to local GP practices around Wirral to support with spirometry delivery in the community.
- The post-holder will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive respiratory and sleep service. This service will include the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities (in accordance with NICE guidelines), although this list is not exhaustive: Lung volumes and forced expiratory flows, respiratory gas exchange, including routine maintenance and internal and external quality control, oximetry, plethysmography, cardio respiratory exercise studies, diagnostic sleep studies, challenge testing and CPAP issue.
- The post-holder must actively participate in all ongoing and development of research, clinical trials and equipment evaluation.
- Regular teaching and training of trainees, students, medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- The post-holder must provide a full diagnostic reporting service for all delivered tests.
- The post-holder will be expected to competently perform a full range of lung function tests on outpatients and inpatients.
- The post-holder will be expected to set-up sleep studies, analyses and report on sleep studies. To competently initiate patients on CPAP therapy, follow-up and review patients.
- To review and prioritise inpatient requests for respiratory investigations within lung function tests, sleep studies and CPAP set-ups.
- To liaise with ward and/or medical staff and ensure availability of physiologist staff when required in order to perform in-patient testing with senior Respiratory Physiologists All new colleagues can expect to receive a warm and friendly Wirral welcome from the very first time they make contact with us.
