Full Job Description

This is an exciting new post for a clinical professional with experience in working with people with Learning Disabilities. The post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating the delivery and development of the multi-disciplinary service which has strong mental health and social care partnerships in the boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. This person will continue working with the team in transforming the service and defining its core business and objectives in the challenging NHS environment ensuring the voice of this vulnerable service user group is heard. You will lead a team of experienced motivated individuals who have a wealth of knowledge about their local populations and national recognition in providing and advocating for people with learning disabilities.

The post holder will also have opportunities to lead on Trust-wide improvement projects, engage with our local commissioners, maintain strong health and social care , SLAM, and learning disability board partnerships with Lambeth Southwark and Lewisham.

To deliver in this role, you will need experience of working within multi-professional teams and with people with Learning Disabilities. You will have a strong proven track record of inclusive leadership and staff management. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work clinically within the service and hold the role of Service Lead.

This role provides high-level, effective, visible, strategic, operational clinical leadership. This role will ensure that the service is equitable, safe, cost effective and responsive to local and national standards of practice, and performance is maintained to the highest quality.

The post holder will be a role model for integrated working, inspiring and supporting staff to manage change positively and deliver a seamless and efficient service. The post holder will be responsible for engaging, negotiating and collaborating with a range of different professional groups, partners and stakeholders, within and outside the organisations to deliver well led, person centred care for adults with learning disabilities. Critical to this will be the ability to develop the working culture and practices to embed and sustain integrated and inter-professional working.

The post holder will be accountable for the provision of clinical and professional supervision, leadership and advice for all staff. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of operational and clinical supervision to the senior clinicians in the learning disabilities team, and supporting/contributing to clinical leadership in the wider directorate.
